1.
Family
Therapy
Families are an important building block in life and come in all shapes and sizes. Dr. Berkoski's approach is centered on helping families find compromise with sacrificing their most precious beliefs and values.
2.
Couples
Therapy
Most people know relationships require work. Too often though, once treasured relationships can fall into predictable patterns of conflict that can be difficult to break.
3.
Trauma Therapy
Children who lived through loss, experienced traumatic events, or been exposed to abuse and neglect can suffer from symptoms of PTSD.
4.
Individual Therapy
In today’s fast paced world, there are plenty of drains on time and energy, not to mention a gaggle of ideas from social media and pop psychology about just how to fix what ails you.
5. Clinical Supervision
All therapists start somewhere.
Newly graduated therapists seeking post-Masters hours toward licensure in LMFT or LPC
can outreach to procure weekly hour long supervision.
Dr. Berkoski's Approach
Dr. Berkoski practices Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT), an integrative model designed to address complex challenges within the family that impact the functioning of all its members. Dr. Berkoski uses couples and families’ existing skills and strengths with the strategies of ESFT to help clients tackle difficult problems. Dr. Berkoski also utilizes Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral treatment with children suffering from trauma.
With couples, Dr. Berkoski practices Gottman Marriage Therapy to address breakdowns in communication, trust, and emotional intimacy as well as trauma, and infidelity. She uses Solution Focused Brief Therapy to address problems in individual, couples, and families to draw on existing strengths as a resource for change.
Dr. Amber Berkoski is the owner and operator of BMFT. Dr. Berkoski always knew she wanted to work with families, as she comes from a rather blended one herself. When asked, she'll often say family therapy chose her - rather than the other way around.
